Phillip Wayne Benton, 73, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday April 23, 2019 at North Crest Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday April 27th at 10:00 a.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Tim Harris officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Mr. Benton was born January 24, 1946 in Springfield to the late Paul and Martha Jane Gibbs Benton. He was a retired truck driver and logger, having worked many years at Benton Lumber Company. Mr. Benton was a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church. He loved collecting knives and guns and his dogs. He worked all his life, and his favorite hobby was working. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Ruby Dorris Benton.
Mr. Benton is survived by his wife: Sandra Wright Benton of Springfield, by his son and daughter-in-law: David-Paul and Amanda Benton of Springfield, by his grandchildren: Elizabeth and Caleb Benton, and by his best buddy, Bear, his Russian German Shepard.
