Jo Ann Cook, age 85, of the Owens Chapel community in Springfield, died on Monday, October 14, 2019, at NorthCrest Medical Center. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 am on Friday, October 18, 2019, in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Bro. Doug Spain and Pastor Don Law officiating. Burial will follow in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with Chad Cook, Curt Cook, Bernie Hudgins, Danny Cook, Tyler Cook, Colton Hudgins, and Collin Cook, serving as pallbearers. Danny Dean, Lorne Green, and Owens Chapel United Methodist Women will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 pm until 8 pm.
Jo Ann was born on August 3, 1934, to the late Joe D. and Earline Hornberger Chowning. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Lovel Travis Cook; her grandson, Travis Cook and her great-granddaughter, Malia Britt Head. She was a member of Owens Chapel United Methodist Church. Ms. Cook was a homemaker who loved sewing, gardening, and her Owens Chapel United Methodist Women Day Group.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law; Charlie and Marilyn Cook of Springfield, Mark and Farah Cook of Springfield, and Brian and Mary Cook of Springfield, her brother; Robert Wayne Chowning, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild.
