Jimmy L. Belt, 81, of Springfield, passed away on Monday August 26, 2019 at his home. Funeral services will be conducted Friday August 30th at 10:00 a.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Reverend Keith Wilson, Reverend Rick Robinson, and Jacob Belt Fuqua officiating. Interment will follow in the Williams Chapel Cemetery with Sammy Justice, John Pearson, Dale Belt, Robert Belt, David Belt, Buddy Sneed, Josh Morris, Jimmy Underwood, and Richie Warren serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Hanner, J.L. Pearson, Mike Mason, Jamie Pitt, Billy Johns, Dennis Wright, J.W. Wright, Leon Pitt, Phillip Duncan, Willie Johns, Thomas Williams, Allen Frogue, Nathan Belt, and Kenneth Spivey. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Mr. Belt was born June 10, 1938 in Springfield to the late Archie and Katie Mae Bayless Belt. He was a graduate of East Robertson High School Class of 1957. Mr. Belt was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of Williams Chapel Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for over 38 years. Mr. Belt served on the Robertson County Commission for 8 years, and he enjoyed fishing and hunting.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Jerry Ray Belt, and by his son-in-law: Jay Guinn Fuqua. Mr. Belt is survived by his wife of 62 years: Charlotte Sneed Belt of Springfield, by his daughters: Pamela Belt Neal of White House and Cindy Belt Fuqua of Springfield, by his brother: Bobby Dean Belt of Atlanta, GA, by his grandchildren: Jayda Fuqua Tubbs and husband Justin, Jacob Belt Fuqua and wife Jordan, Emily Neal Hood and husband Caleb, and by his great grandchildren: Jessa Guinn Tubbs, Jett Ralston Fuqua, and Jaylen Barnett.
