James William "J.W." Chester, 92, of Greenbrier, passed away on Saturday December 22, 2018 at Alive Hospice in Nashville. Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday December 26th at 1:00 p.m. in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with Reverend Mike Cummings officiating. The Senior Men's Sunday School class at Bethlehem Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. There will be no visitation prior to the graveside service.
Mr. Chester was born March 23, 1926 in Stewart County to the late Daryl G. and Blanche Richards Chester, Sr. He was a veteran of WWII, having served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Chester retired from Genesco, and then went on to work for 25 years at the Springfield Kroger. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Mac A. Chester, Daryl G. Chester, Jr., Martha Chester Baxendale, and Mary A. Chester. Mr. Chester is survived by his sister: Clara Chester Martin of Nashville, and by several cousins.
