Donald Gene Thornton, 57, of Cedar Hill, passed away on Sunday November 18, 2018 at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday November 21st at 10:00 a.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Pastor Porter Jennings officiating. Entombment will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Columbia. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Mr. Thornton was born June 21, 1961 in Davidson County to the late G.T. and Mattie Lou Chapman Thornton. He worked at the Springfield Police Department for approximately seven years, and then transferred to the Goodlettsville Police Department where he retired from as a Sergeant. Mr. Thornton was the owner and operator of the former Thornton Karate. He enjoyed golfing, his Harley, his GMC, his swimming pool, and his frequent trips to Tunica. His favorite pastime was "relaxing" in his recliner while watching whatever he wanted to on TV.
He is survived by his fiancée: Katrina Bolding of Cedar Hill, his daughters: Kayla Webb and husband David of Nashville, Brittany Thornton and Eddie Carlisle of Oregon, those who were his step-children, but were loved by him as his own: Skye Thornton and wife Nicole of Knoxville, Bentley Thompson of Cedar Hill, Savannah Forrester and husband Toby of White House, and by six grandchildren
