Richard Allen “Dick” Hessler, Sr., 79, of Greenbrier, passed away on Friday November 22, 2019 at his home. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday November 24th at 2:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Tim Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Lutons Chapel Cemetery with Daniel Smith, Austin Kirtland, Fred Hessler, Ronald Hessler, Jeffery Hessler, Darrel Polk, and Kevin Richards serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 11:30 a.m. until service time. A Masonic Service will be conducted on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Hessler was born January 14, 1940 in Chicago, IL to the late Leroy and Eileen Young Hessler. He always loved to work and earn money. At age 12, he started shining shoes at Mid-Way Airport in Chicago and was very successful. Mr. Hessler was a retired Carpenter with the Broward County School Board. He was a Mason with the Boulevard Lodge in Bridgeview, IL and was a member of Al Menah Temple. He enjoyed wood working and his favorite hobby was “working”.
Mr. Hessler is survived by his wife of 52 years: Deb Greer Hessler of Greenbrier, by his son: Richard (Robin) Hessler, Jr., of Arizona, by his daughters: Crystal Massey and Lora (Daniel) Smith of Georgia, by his brothers: LeRoy (Barbara Ann) Hessler of Hollywood, FL and Ernst (Debra) Hessler of Michigan, by his sister: Barbara Croft of Knoxville, by his grandchildren: Denice (Austin) Kirtland, Brooklynne Robinson, Danielle Polk, and Brandon Hessler, and by his great grandchildren: Rylee Baker and Callie Crowder.
