David Braun Obituary

David Wade Braun, age 57 of Springfield, TN died Monday December 17, 2018 at North Crest Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Thursday December 20, 2018 in the sanctuary of the Springfield First United Methodist Church. His nephews, William Evans Braun, Benjamin Michael Braun, Timothy Andrew Braun, Benton Thomas Stott, Madison Lee Stott, Wesley Hamilton Stott and Matthew Phillip Farmer will serve as pallbearers. The Springfield High School football coaching staff and the First United Methodist Church Unity Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday December 19, 2018 from 4 pm till 8 pm and again at the church on Thursday from 12 noon until the hour of service at 2 pm.
David was born September 13, 1961 in Virginia Beach, VA to William Karl George and Ruth Elizabeth Hundley Braun of Norman OK. In addition to his parents David is survived by his wife, Carol Farmer Braun of Springfield; son and daughter-in-law, Patrick Wade and Sierra Braun of Springfield; daughter and son-in-law, Rachel Elizabeth Braun Smith and Craig Smith of Springfield; brothers and sisters-in law, Steven Karl and Janet Braun of Brentwood, TN, Robert Barnett and Vicki Braun of Thompsons Station, TN; sister, Janet Kay Braun of Norman OK; father-in-law, Jerry Farmer of Springfield; grandchildren, Scarlett Michelle, Paisley Elizabeth and Maverick Wade Braun and numerous nieces and nephews. A brother, William "Billy" Robert Braun and his mother-in-law, Rachel Anne Miller "Bama" Farmer preceded him in death.
David was a very active and passionate member of Springfield First United Methodist Church, serving in many capacities. and was a proud educator with the Robertson County Board of Education having taught 7th grade math and science at Springfield Middle School and Jo Byrns High School. He graduated from Craigmont High School in Memphis in 1979, from Tennessee Technological University, where he played football for the Golden Eagles, in 1984 and received his master's degree in 1998 from Trevecca Nazarene University. He loved sports and was a valuable resource to the Springfield High School Football Team serving wherever he could be of help. David very much had the heart of a faithful servant in whatever he was involved in, but foremost he was a devoted and loving husband, father, "Pops", brother, son and friend.
If so desired the family request that memorial donations may be made in David's memory to the Springfield First UMC or Springfield High School Football Boosters. All donations may be sent care of the Robertson County Funeral Home
