Daniel “Dan” Samuel Martin Borthick, age 95, of Springfield, Tennessee, died Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Morningside of Springfield.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 16, 2019 from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. and again on Sunday from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. at the Robertson County Funeral Home. Services will be Sunday November 17, 2019 at 2 p.m. with burial immediately following in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Will Borthick, John Borthick, Clyde Dean, Ralph Dean, Bob Bibb and Dennis Gregory serving as pallbearers.
Mr. Borthick was a life-long farmer and steward of the land he tended. He was a long-time member and deacon of Oak Grove Baptist Church as well as a current member of Barren Plains Baptist Church. He was president of the Eastern Dark Fired Growers Association for 31 years, a member of the Robertson County School Board, a member of the Nashville Milk Producers Board of Directors, president of the Tennessee Dairy Association, a member of the Robertson County Board of Equalization for 26 years, a member of the board of Robertson County Farm Bureau, and a member of the Robertson County Hospital Board of Trust.
Mr. Borthick was born Nov. 21, 1923, to the late John S. and Buna P. Outlaw Borthick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evaline Stoner Borthick; his son, John Martin Borthick; his brothers Joe (Mavis) Borthick, Frank (Patsy) Borthick, and Fred (Sylvia) Borthick; his sisters Nora M. Borthick, Janie (Henry) Hoover, Elizabeth (Edward) Holmes, and Cary Borthick.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Stokes Borthick; his daughter Melinda J. (Janet R. Taylor) Borthick; his son Daniel “Danny” E. (Billie Caren) Borthick; his grandsons Will D. (Elizabeth) Borthick and John H. (Hope) Borthick; his granddaughters Analyn R. Borthick and Meegan Carra; and five great-grandchildren.
