Alice Hyde Bedwell, age 94 of Springfield, died Thursday, December 12, 2019 at The Residence at Alive Hospice in Nashville. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, December 16, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Rushing officiating. Burial will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Don Bedwell, Jr., Corey Bedwell, and members of Hillcrest Church of Christ serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 1 until 5 PM and Monday from 10 AM until the hour of service.
Mrs. Bedwell was born September 21, 1925 in Robertson County to the late James Richard and Bessie Marshall Hyde. She was a member of Hillcrest Church of Christ and was retired from South Central Bell. She was a past president of Jesse Holman Jones Auxiliary, was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club, and was a past president of South Central Bell Telephone Pioneers of America. After her retirement in 1978 she was a volunteer for the Senior Citizens Center and C.O.P.E. and the Big Brothers of Nashville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death b y her husband, Buford “Buck” Bedwell, and her sister, Margaret Hyde Witty.
She is survived by her sons, Don Owen Bedwell, Sr. of La Vergne, Joe Freeman Bedwell of Columbia, and James Jeffrey Bedwell of White House; grandchildren, Don Bedwell, Jr., Corey Bedwell, and 6 other grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
