Tabitha Carthon

Tabitha Ann Demumbreum Carthon, 79, of Orlinda, passed away Sunday January 17, 2016 at Hendersonville Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday January 30th at 1:00 p.m. at the Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Orlinda with Pastor Ricky Blakemore officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with Melvin Scharklet, Steve Groves, Larry Crocker, Jr., Jeff Chatman, Terry Scharklet, Anthony Davis, Tommy Frazier, and Jeff Benton as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are the Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church Male Chorus, Danny Neblett, Roy Bell, Paul Bell, Perry Bell, Tyler Scharklet, and Justin Scharklet. Flower bearers are Tonya Crocker, Candace Scharklet, Yolanda Heath, Rita Benton, Cassandra Austin, Andre Bell, Christina Dunn, and Yvette Scharklet. Honorary Flowers bearers are the Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church Mother Board, Mary Ruth Trumphour, Marie Payne, Jackie Payne, Brenda Dunn, Dorothy Young, and Delores Bell. The family will receive friends on Saturday January 30th from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the church.

Mrs. Carthon was born January 15, 1937 in Robertson County to the late George Elvis "Joe" and Lena Bell Crocker Demumbreum. Mrs. Carthon was a graduate and Vintager of Tennessee State University. She was a retired school teacher from East Robertson Elementary School. She worked forty-six years for the Robertson County Board of Education. Mrs. Carthon was a lifelong member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Orlinda, a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, INC., and a member of the Robertson County Retired Teachers Association. Mrs. Carthon enjoyed cooking, singing, playing piano, and watching football and basketball. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson: Nathan Fry.

Mrs. Carthon is survived by her daughter: Janet Carthon Blakemore of Orlinda, son and daughter-in-law: Joel E. and Cynthia Fry Carthon of Nashville, grand-daughter: Holly J. Blakemore of Hendersonville, sisters and brother-in-law: Connie D. Staten of Orlinda, Mary Catherine and Robert L. McReynolds of Valparaiso, IN, nieces: Ami L. McReynolds of Chicago, IL, and Jessica Ransom of New York, NY
