Susan Fentress Obituary
Susan Groth Fentress Greenbrier TN, age 70 passed away April 21, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Nashville, TN and was a lifelong resident of TN. Susan was preceded in death by her father, H. M. "Martin" Groth, Jr.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Albert A. Fentress of Greenbrier; mother, Anne Lowrey Groth of Spokane,WA; daughter Emily Fentress of Raleigh, NC; son Dave (Heather) Fentress of Franklin, TN; grandchildren Molly and Caroline Fentress, brothers Roy (Raylene) Groth of San Rafael, CA, Mark (Annie) Groth of Ft Collins, CO, sisters Julie (Eric) Sorensen of Las Cruces, NM and Nita (Steve) Gregg of Spokane, WA.
Susan graduated from Springfield High School and attended David Lipscomb College. She earned a degree from Austin Peay University and a masters degree from MTSU.
She taught school in Davidson and Robertson County for 32 years, and served as the Greenbrier Elementary guidance counselor for the last 12 years of her career. After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and staying in touch with family and her many friends. She was a sweet soul and loved by all. She took pleasure in being a member of the Charlotte Reeves Robertson Chapter of DAR.
Susan was a faithful member of Bethel Church of Christ. The family is grateful for the support of the church, family, friends, and Alive Hospice.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday April 26, 2017 at the Bethel Church of Christ in Joelton, burial to follow in the Mt. Sharon Cemetery with James Young, Bob Young, David Young, John Young, Cliff Groth and Irving Fentress serving as pallbearers. . The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 4-8 pm and again on Wednesday from 9 am until service time at 11 am.
Please send donations in lieu of flowers to St. Jude Children's hospital or Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Effort, Inc. All donations may be sent care of the Robertson County Funeral Home.
