Rachel Johnson Summers Munday

Rachel Johnson Summers Munday, age 89 of Springfield, died Saturday, March 26, 2016 at NorthCrest Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 1:00 PM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Bro. Robby Ridgeway officiating. Interment will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Howard Owens, Shawn DeHaven, Nicholas Brindle, Jon Offutt, Geoff Nichols, and Blair Offutt serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are NorthCrest Wound Care Center Employees and Employees of Morningside of Springfield. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 4 until 8 PM and Wednesday from 11 AM until the hour of service.
Mrs. Munday was born July 30, 1926 in Robertson County to the late John H. and Hettie Blanche Sawyers Johnson. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church and was a retired sales associate at Rena's Dress Shop. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved to cook, especially pecan pies, potato salad, and coconut cake. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Lewis Summers and William Guy "Buck" Munday; brothers, J.D. and Joe Burns Johnson; and sisters, Bessie Sue Johnson and Anna Owens.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Summers Nichols and husband Bill of Hendersonville; sisters, Ruth Johnson Offutt and husband Buddy of Springfield, Peggy Johnson Black of Goodlettsville, and Bobbie Johnson Shankle of Hendersonville; grandchildren, Geoff Nichols and wife Angela, Jennifer DeHaven and husband Shawn, and Julie Nichols and fiancé Nicholas Brindle; and great grandchildren, Sadie Nichols, Scarlett DeHaven, Harper Nichols, and Grayson DeHaven.
