Mildred Swann Obituary

Mildred Elizabeth Lowery Swann, 85, of Cross Plains, went to be with her Lord on Monday March 2, 2015. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday March 7th at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with Rev. Sid Woodruff and Rev. Rick Robinson officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery with Jimmy Pitt, Bill Chatman, Samuel Osborne, Lynn Keith, Steve Barron, Brad Keith, and Greg Keith serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Robertson County Funeral Home and on Saturday from 12 noon until service time at the church.

Mrs. Swann was born June 27, 1929 in Robertson County to the late Orbery and Iesma Myrtle Eldridge Lowery. She worked as an LPN while her husband served in the military. Later on she worked as a LPN at the Old Springfield Hospital and then at Jesse Holman Jones Hospital. She also worked as a floral designer at The Wedding Chapel in Springfield for twenty-five years. She served on the Board of Directors for Secure Haven. Mrs. Swann was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years, was a member of the WMU, worked with the GA's, and was a faithful member of the church choir. Her greatest love was her Lord, her husband, her children, her grandchildren, and her church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: James, Melvin, and Robert Lowery, Dorothy Christine Roark, Winfred Lowery, and Joyce Bowling. Mrs. Swann is survived by her husband of 61 years: Carl Edward Swann of Cross Plains, son and daughter-in-law: Ross Edward and Donna Swann of Cross Plains, daughter and son-in-law: Janice and Chip Hellmann of Goodlettsville, sister: Lydia Lowery McDuffie of Hendersonville, grandchildren: Rachel Swann and fiancé: Blake Williams, Elizabeth "Betsy" Swann, Lisa Hellmann, Stephen Hellmann, and Victoria Hellmann.

The family request memorial contributions be made to the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Haiti Orphanage Fund.
