Howard Michael "Mike" Holloway, age 64 of Springfield, Tennessee, known by many as "Doc" died Monday September 21, 2015 at his home. Services for Mike will be held at 11 am on Friday September 25, 2015 in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral home with Rev. Jeff Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, KY with Jeff Groves, Jeffrey Groves, Gerry Hester, Michael Grogan, Monty Stewart, Rick Balthrop, Lynn Pitt and Gary Grimes serving as pallbearers.
Mike was born February 9, 1951 in Franklin, KY to the late Howard and Leann Traughber Holloway. His brother, Joseph Vincent "Joey" Holloway also preceded him in death.
Surviving him are his sister and brother-in-law, Trudy Holloway Groves and Jeff Groves; nephew, Jeffrey C. Groves and wife, Jamie Marie Groves; niece, Jenny Groves Robertson and husband, J.W. Robertson; and great-nephew, Clay Vincent Groves, all of Springfield and uncle, Kenneth Traughber of Nashville.
Mike was a Veteran having served in the United States Army from 1970 to 1972 during the Viet Nam War. After his tour of duty, he attended MTSU in Murfreesboro, TN, where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He was a hairstylist in Springfeld for several years owning and operating the Hair Doctor salon. After leaving that profession, he continued a career in truck driving until his retirement.
Mike enjoyed several hobbies and interests throughout his life. He was a licensed pilot of small aircraft and was a lover of country and bluegrass music. He taught himself to be an accomplished guitar player, as well as learning to play the banjo, fiddle and mandolin. He was an active member of the American Legion and strong supporter of our armed forces. He had an immense love and respect for guns and weaponry and was an avid supporter of the National Rifle Association in which he held a Benefactor Member status which is the highest level of membership.
If so desired, the family request that memorial donations may be made in Mike's memory to the National Rifle Association. All donations may be sent in care of the Robertson County Funeral Home.
