Mattie Jernigan Obituary

Mattie Mae Jernigan, age 94 of Nashville, passed away Friday, January 26, 2018 at The Residence at Alive Hospice in Nashville. She was married to the late Lenard Jernigan.
Mattie was born June 2, 1923 in Robertson County to the late Walter and Marie Shannon. She retired from St. Cecilia in Nashville where she was a nurse. For many years she was a member of Bridge Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, Mattie was preceded in death by sons, James Jernigan and Paul Jernigan, and a daughter, betty Jo Jernigan.
Mattie leaves to cherish memory in her sons, Wade (Valeria) Jernigan of Nashville, Steve (Mary) Jernigan of Nashville, Jeff Jernigan of Nashville, and Frank (Annie) Jernigan of Cross Plains; daughters, Linda (Charlie) Starks of Franklin, KY and Katherine Bell of Bowling Green, KY; and a hosts of Grandchildren, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at 12:00 PM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with pastor Ricky Blakemore delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery in Orlinda with Kenneth Jernigan, Scott Jernigan, Troy Starks, Clay Jernigan, Raymond Bell, Keith Bell, Stephen Starks, and Ian Starks serving as pallbearers. Granddaughter will serve as flower bearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11 AM until the hour of service.
