Jay Guinn Fuqua, 58, of Springfield, died Sunday February 26, 2017 at his home. Funeral services will be conducted Friday March 3rd at 10:00 a.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Escue officiating. Interment will follow in the Riverside Farms Cemetery with Shawn Fisher, Clifford Reid, Banie Robertson, James Green, Mark Taylor, Wade Inman, Wayne Leding, Larry Gorham, Jackie Campbell, Frankie Wells, Josh Morris, and Eric Pulley serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Barney Miller, Sonny McMahon, Larry Douthit, Bryan Conner, Wesley Foster, Steve Foster, Leon Haney, Kenneth Hale, Buddy Sneed, Brad Moss, Bob Barbee, Terri Curry, Scott Motley, Ricky Essary, Tonis Wallace, Brandon Phillips, Mark Ford, Greg Osborne, John Smith, Tyler Leding, Jerry Hardison, Paul White, Andy Arms, Chris Atkinson, Andy Teasley, Will Teasley, Mike Mason, John Pearson, Mike Baggett, Joey Dorris, Johnny Meredith, Tim Vick, Joe Krulik, Andy Mason, Mike Byrum, Brandon Hunt, Kevin Essary, George Shick, David Thomas, Chuck Lawrence, Steve Stubblefield, Shane Hunt, Larry Phillips, Evan Anderson, John Robert Dare, Junior Tanner, Miles Stratton, Todd Perry, Clay Haney, Clyde Richert, and TJ Wallace. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday beginning at 1 p.m. and again on Friday from 8 a.m. until the hour of service at 10 a.m.
Jay was born October 8, 1958, the son of the late Jesse G. and Dorothy Taylor Fuqua. He was a member of the Springfield High School Class of 1977. He was a member of the Mid-South Tractor Pullers Association, the National Tractor Pullers Association, and of the Oak Grove Baptist Church. Jay enjoyed tractor pulling for over forty-five years. He enjoyed rebuilding Peterbilts and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Jay is survived by his wife: Cindy Belt Fuqua of Springfield, son: Jacob Belt Fuqua and wife Jordan of Springfield, daughter: Jayda Fuqua and Justin of Springfield, sister: Jan Hall of Allensville, KY, grandchildren: Jaylen, Jessa, and Jett, in-laws: Jimmy and Charlotte Belt, four nieces and one nephew.
