Howard Elliott Abroms, age 72, of Springfield, TN, passed away Monday, June 22, 2015, at his home.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, June 25, 2015, at the Temple Congregation Ohabai Sholom Cemetery in Nashville, TN.
Howard was born in Shelby, MS, to the late Helon Aarons Abroms and Irvin Abroms. Upon graduating as his high school's valedictorian, Howard left Mississippi to attend Vanderbilt University. While at Vanderbilt Howard was a member of the ZBT fraternity. Howard played high school basketball, tennis, and golf. He remained an athlete and sports fan for all of his life. He loved watching Jeopardy, traveling and doing crossword puzzles. All of his high school friends called him "BooBoo," but nobody seems to remember why. Howard spent most of his working life in the men's clothing industry, and for a number of years, he was the owner of The Oxford Shop in Green Hills.
Howard is survived by his brother Max ben Aaron of Israel, his wife Ann Smith Abroms, his step-children Andy Baker, Chad Baker and Joley Ogg as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Howard was a member of the Temple and the YMCA of Robertson County, where he was very active as a patron and volunteer.
