Gary Haynes

Raymond Gary Haynes, 81, of Springfield, died Tuesday January 27, 2015 at NHC Healthcare Center in Springfield. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday January 29th at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Bro. Marvin Crouch officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery with Jay Holman, Alan Holman, Brendan Diaz-Barriga, Matt Baggett, J. David Holman, Michael Zylstra, Jim Baggett, and Herman Diaz-Barriga serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnnie Marlin, Gary French, Don Head, Jr., and Don Williams. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Haynes was born March 19, 1933 in Robertson County to the late Raymond Sory and Nancy Fentress Haynes. He was a member of the Springfield High School Class of 1951. He excelled in football while at Springfield High, and was offered scholarships at both University of Alabama and at U.T. Knoxville. He played at U.T. Knoxville, until he was called to return home to run the family farm. Mr. Haynes was a former president of Production Credit Association, former owner of Springfield Reality Partners, former member of Springfield Kiwanis for over 20 years, a retired general contractor, and was of the Church of Christ faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-grandchild: Nathaniel Diaz-Barriga. Mr. Haynes is survived by his wife: Brenda Davidson Haynes of Springfield, daughter: Allison Anne Haynes Holman and husband J. David Holman of Springfield, step-children: Gina Baggett Zylstra and husband Michael of Franklin, Jim Davidson Baggett and wife Joyce of Springfield, Christy Baggett Diaz-Barriga and husband Herman of Springfield, grandchildren: Jay Holman and wife Libby of Nashville, Alan Haynes Holman of Springfield, step-grandchildren: Grace Zylstra, Marty Ree Zylstra, Morgan and Matt Baggett, Brendan, Nadia, and Noah Diaz-Barriga, and Ashley Hand.
