Dalton A. Burnette

Dalton A. Burnette, age 88 of Cross Plains, died Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at NHC Healthcare in Springfield. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 9, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Rev. Daniel Dennis and Rev. Thurman Page officiating. Burial will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens with military honors and Bobby Jones, Eddie McKnight, Scott Burnette, Terry Burnette, Mark Calvert, Daniel Calvert, Bryan Ayers, and Brent Dorris serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 4 until 8 PM and Friday from 9 AM until the hour of service.
Mr. Burnette was born March 29, 1929 in Robertson County to the late Thomas and Martha Ann Spurlock Burnette. He was a member of Oakland Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon, and was a veteran of the United States Marines. He retired from Tappan and had also worked at Springfield Woolen Mills. He enjoyed gardening and watching things grow and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Reynolds Burnette; son, Tony Burnette; brother, Gordon Burnette; and sisters, Estelle Head, Earline Gregory, and Flossie Estes.
He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Burnette of Springfield; brother, Billy Burnette and wife Barbara of Franklin, KY; sister, Dot West of Indiana; grandchildren, Greg White, James White, Hannah Baggett, and Aymie Burnette; and 8 great grandchildren.
The family request, if so desired, for memorial contributions to be made to Oakland Baptist Church. All donations can be sent c/o Robertson County Funeral Home.
