Clarence Ralph Nichols, age 87 of Madison, passed from this life on November 20, 2014 at NHC Healthcare in Hendersonville. He was born May 21, 1927 in Robertson County to the late Edgars Bates and Emma Susie Shearon Nichols, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by thirteen brothers and sisters. He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Dorena Wilson Nichols of Madison; daughters, Faith Ann (Allen) Gunn of Wetumpka, AL, Dianne (Randy) Simmons of Ft. Myers, FL, and Glynda (Greg) Turner of Chattanooga; brother, Wayne (Edith) Nichols of Cookeville; seven grandchildren,; and thirteen great grandchildren.
An Army veteran, he graduated from Coopertown High School with twelve years of perfect attendance, was a charter of the Coopertown Men's Club, and was a deacon at Rivergate Church of Christ for over 40 years. He was also a retired truck driver with ABF Freight Lines. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the Robertson County Funeral Home from 3 until 7 PM and Sunday at the Rivergate Church of Christ from 1 PM until the hour of funeral services at 2 PM. Burial will follow at Springfield Memorial Gardens with Scott Simmons, Matt Simmons, Jay Bedsole, Gregory Turner, Brantley Darnell, and Ron Nichols serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Coopertown Men's Club.
