Billy Edward Harper, 84, of the Barren Plains community in Springfield, died Monday March 17, 2014 at his home. Graveside services will be conducted Thursday March 20th at 11:00 a.m. in the Robertson County Memorial Gardens with Rev. Frank Evans and Rev. Cody Dean officiating. Pallbearers will be Russell Holman, Allan Ellis, Tommy McPherson, Jeff Doss, Dan Rader, and Doyle Ratliff. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be no visitation on Thursday prior to the graveside service. Mr. Harper was born September 5, 1929 in Robertson County to the late Hugh M. and Azie Baggett Harper. He was a retired maintenance worker with Delight Products. Mr. Harper was a member of Barren Plains Baptist Church, where he had taught Sunday School and was Deacon Emeritus. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Harper is survived by his wife of 61 years: Evelyn Minnis Harper of Springfield, daughters: Virginia Harper Schaller and husband Fran of Lynchburg, VA, Judy Harper of Springfield, grandchildren: Christine M. Schaller and Rebecca R. Schaller, great grandchild: Jordan T. Lavender.
